The Function And Composition Of Active Speaker Are Introduced In Detail

2024-10-28

To talk about what is an active speaker, it is necessary to first talk about the composition of the sound system. The simplest sound system consists of several elements: a sound source, a power amplifier, and a speaker. Sound source refers to sound broadcasting equipment such as radio, booth, CD player, VCD, DVD, MP3, etc. As far as computers are concerned, optical drives and sound cards are sound source devices. The output voltage of the general sound source equipment is small, about between hundreds of millivolts and two volts, and if the speaker is directly connected, the sound may be very small or even silent.

And because the impedance of the speaker is generally very low, the vast majority of them are between 4 and 8 ohms, and the impedance of some speakers with special planning is even less than 2 ohms in some frequency bands, close to the short circuit, which is easy to overload the sound source equipment, and may even cause damage to the sound source equipment when severe. Therefore, it is necessary to add a power amplifier (referred to as power amplifier) between the sound source and the speaker, and expand the weak signal output of the sound source to the power to promote the speaker, so that the speaker announces the volume that is satisfied.

Together, the power amplifier has a high input impedance (generally tens of thousands of ohms) and a low output impedance (a few tenths of ohm), which can buffer the effect between the sound source and the speaker, neither overloading the sound source equipment, but also easy to promote the speaker. Generally, all aspects of Hi-Fi sound are relatively independent, and a sound system can be formed by connecting various connections.
